"In mice the venom has an i.v. toxicity of between 1.8 - 5.6 mg/kg. It contains a powerful neurotoxin with a molecular weight of 7100 - 8500, which causes neuromuscular dysfunction by inactivating acetylcholine receptors on the postsynaptic membrane. However, there are few case histories. A bite from a very small specimen resulted only in slight pain. No specific antivenom is produced, and no commercial antivenom is likely to be effective."

For comparison, green mamba i.v. toxicity in mice is 1.3 mg/kg.
