1% of the rattlesnake population. Do they factor in that many of those people have no idea what they may be rounding up? The article sure gave some positive publicity for the event. Too bad private hot keeping cannot raise that much money for a town.

I just wonder where organizations like PETA are on this. They are quick to protest outside a zoo if an elephant dies and they are quick to protest use of animals to make drugs which save human lives...but 2000 lbs of snake get killed at one festival each year for "the sport"...and our level headed PETA members paint themselves red and stand somewhere else.
