Wieght loss just before laying eggs

I have been breeding many famales and have witnessed ovulation on a few of them. One of my females weighed 2500 grams before I breed her and after she had her pre-lay shed she weighed 3100 grams. And now she weighs 2800 grams, 6 days till eggs. I was just surprised that she lost 100 grams a week. I was kind of estimating that I would probably get 6-7 eggs at each egg wiegh about a 100 grams. Can anyone explain the wieght loss.
