Posted by: BRG at Tue Mar 14 13:13:06 2006 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by BRG ] I took my Blackthroat to a qualified reptile Vet.Not found in my area of Va.Luckily a Vet that worked with my old friend Scott Stahl(Janice Raab) moved here and is only a mile away. The tail was breaking off from a shedding problem.I keep her about 60% humidity and she soaks everyday for about an hour so I really don't know what caused the problem(I'm sure FR would know). The tail was cut off right at the break(almost off anyway) and was bleeding so it's healthy tissue so no amputation was needed. Her tail will be 4" shorter now.She is still almost 5' long.Treatment is a couple of antibiotic shots, silver sulfadiazine cream on the tail daily and remove the sheds as best as possible.I guess I need to pay closer attention to her and ditch the new girlfriend [ Hide Replies ]
