Very young tortoises who have not spent much time in the rough-and-tumble outdoors will have shiny shells.



And any tortoise that has recently been washed will look pretty good, too.



But the only reasonable and safe way to do that is with plain water. No soap, oils or chemicals. Maybe a tooth brush to remove caked on .... "goo" :->



When I soak my torts I run some water over them. Otherwise I don't do any shell maintenance.
