You are not guaranteed to get any zigzags, although in practice you're likely to get atleast some.



Aztec is a pattern much like zigzag, just with a different look to it. It's not a nice clean recessive gene like we like to play with. I don't know if aztec X zigzag produces anything unusual or semi-predictable. Aztec is quite common in lavender lines.



In regards to pattern morphs in general, there's some investigation underway to determine whether the wide-stripe variety of zigzag pattern is heritable.
