500 grams should be fine...more

Breeding a 500 gram male is OK, I had a male pastel last season that was around 420 grams that produced three clutches. Here were the results.



Clutch #1 ... 12 eggs.... 8 pastels and 4 normals

Clutch #2 ... 4 eggs.... 3 pastels and 1 normal

Clutch #3 ... 3 eggs.... 3 pastels and 0 normals



That is pretty good odds for a 420 gram male.



I have had males that were under 400 breed this season so we will see what the out come is. Hope that helps.
