Newbie in need of help!

I am getting a beautiful female Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot tail, who will initially be going in a 10 gallon aquariam (Her husband and other girlfriends will arrive in a few weeks along with a 75 gallon aquarium). She will have a hide, cave, dishes...what do you recommend for heat???? Is the heater put underneath the tank or buried under paper towels..........please help!!!!
