Sorry I forgot to answer your qustion in the other post. but in a nut shell yes you can the Nikon D 50 has a manual or automatic switch on the side of the lens. so you have full controll of that if you want. Love the Nikon. Brian   ----- 1.2.0 ball python (aragorn, arwen,`eowyn)
