If it can melt the plastic it would be too hot for your animal as well. So, no, they don't melt the plastic unless something is very wrong. Now a light bulb.....melt and burn in a heart beat.



I buy all my heat tape and stuff for it at The Bean Farm. Wire a dimmer switch into an extension cord and you have your own rheostat. Rubbermaids....Walmart.
