Thermostat question.....

I'm planning on getting a boaphile 221D for my male normal ball python (and then another additional one for the female normal I plan to buy this summer, and we know where it goes from there...more and more snakes). I am not certain yet if I am going to go the easier route and get the heating options and thermostat direct from boaphile, or go the cheaper route and wire up the thermostat myself, but I had a question:



I noticed that the thermostats boaphile sells have a powerstrip, which leads me to believe that you can use it with more than one cage. Where would I put the probe? The middle cage? Or just the one that seems to have the best average? I couldn't imagine how much money it would cost to get a thermostat for every cage!



Also, what happens when the power goes out? Will the thermostat remember the settings when the power comes back on?
