Actually, a likely possibility is that these older snakes are merely "trade-ins"-pet snakes whose previous owners have decided to go on to some other animal or interest, and brought in to get rid of. You can sometimes find really good buys by shopping around (remember to only buy from stores that seem to do a good job with their reptiles). I own a reptile store, and this is how we get the vast majority of our older snakes.....
