Here's a species that has a lot stacked against it. It's native habitat is almost gone due to slash and burn agriculture, animals are taken from the wild by local collectors who hardly get anything for a unique endemic piece of their heritage despite the fact that they can bring a dealer or an importer a huge sum of cash, they are not sustaining a viable population in captivity, they don't tend to thrive in most "pet keepers" setups, all the bad reasons. When you ask yourself just why you want a housecat sized chameleon it better be for a better reason than that is is "awesome". I don't mean to attack you in person, just the idea in general that wanting something for yourself can be expensive for the animal.
