When I probe corn they tend to be a little more difficult to turn upside down. At least the tail portion you will be working with. Balls seem to deal with it, but I'd advise to have someone help hold it. Also Males can b a bit tricky. Use to big a probe, and he may have enough muscle control to stop it.



I start with a probe I think is the proper size, that just comes with practice or watching someone. If I get a result that I'm not sure of, I go down 1 size in probes. Also do both sides. I have found many snakes that look female, until you probe the other side and half the probe disappears.



On a smaller snake like you are talking I never really push the tool either. I kind of rest it on my fingers, and try to slide it in. Maybe a twist with my thumb. Sometimes just finding the cloaca opening seems hard on a few too. Just remember once you get started think which way the organ is going and point it that way. I've seen a few guys pop straight down pretty hard at first? I try to be gentle as possible.
