Hogg Island Boa Experience

I have a friend who's interested in boids, but nothing BIG. Size-wise these guys seem great. However, I have a few questions. I read that they are docile? True? I read that they can be troublesome feeders. Should their cage be horizontally or vertically oriented? Thanx.
