I never mate my veiled females until they are over a year old....and they don't ever die eggbound. I want to be sure that she has finished growing before I put demands on her to lay fertile eggs. (Laying infertile eggs is usually easier on the female.)
Eggbinding in veiled females doesn't occur just because you didn't mate them as soon as they were sexually mature...it is brought on by bad husbandry, internal problems of the female, eggs that grew too large to be laid from the female not having an appropriate place to lay her eggs and held the eggs inside her, mis-formed eggs, misshaped eggs, being watched when she is trying to dig a hole to lay the eggs in, etc.
Do you have an appropriate place for her to lay her eggs in her cage?
Be patient...she should accept the male sooner or later.
