I know I'm going to be labeled a heretic for this but ... If I would you then I would consider a different type of snake. Garters are pretty messy compared to some other types of snakes. Their tanks need more cleaning to maintain a non-smelly environment.



Make sure the top to your tank is extremely secure. Snakes are escape artists.
