What I did for my Vision enclosures was use indoor-outdoor rope lighting, and it gives a nice "indirect" lighting effect. Just drill a hole the size of the rope light (mine was 1/2" , string it through, glue the little clips that come with the rope light to the ceiling of the cage, and voila!
The ropelights do heat up a little bit (which is good in my situation, adds a few degrees to the ambient temp), but not so much that they would burn a reptile if the reptile stayed next to it. Just make sure to use a thermostat for your heater so the cage doesn't heat above the temperature you want. I used white lights (on a timer for day/night) but they've got a lot of different colors.
