It would be best not to travel that long with a 3 month old dragon. Such young dragons need 2-3 feedings a day and the stress of such a long trip could weaken her too much. It would be better to keep the dragon where she is now, then once your friend is settled at her school residence, ship the dragon to her. Overnight shipping is a bit expensive but overall less stressful for the dragon.

To ship a dragon, put it in a small container/deli dish where the dragon can be comfortably (should be large enough that the dragon isn't forced to sit curled up tightly but small enough it can't move around alot). The deli dish should then be placed in a box big enough that it can be lined with styrofoam insulation, with the deli dish placed in the middle and the space filled up with either packaging popcorn or scrunched up newspaper. The box should be clearly labeled harmless reptile. If temperatures are likely to be hot or cold, include either a heat pack or cool pack to keep the temps in the box comfortable for the dragon.

Once your friend gets teh package, she can take the dragon out and place it into it's cage to warm up and relax. Food can be offered an hour or so later, if it's not too close to its normal lights out time. (should have at least two hours to digest food before the lights go out).
