Posted by: liquidleaf at Wed Apr 12 15:09:35 2006 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by liquidleaf ] Yeah, I've read in quite a few different publications that feeding birds can cause boas to have very smelly, loose stools and increase the chances of the boa carrying salmonella. They would also probably PREFER the birds and get hooked on them (you might not be able to get a boa to feed on rodents again after feeding poultry or other birds, bad idea if you ever want to sell your snake). I also read somewhere that guinea pigs should be avoided because their thick skin can cause boas to have bad gas? Heh, thought it was funny when I read it, but might be a consideration as well.
