laws : that snake could be a juvenile yellow belly racer. It's hard to determine with that only picture. I live just south of there and to me this snake has to much pattern ( picture ) to be the speckled king . None of the holbrooki that I've seen there or in the flint hills has that much pattern. BUT they do farther southwest and even is speculative of inter-grading with splendida. Like I said > another close up pic would tell me. Laws regarding Kansas hog nose > NOPE ! A listed non-collected species ( at least it was ). Legal again with a receipt of purchase from out side of state and or receipt from another commercial in-state breeder and commercial permit to resale.
