It's hard to determine with that only picture. I live just south of there and to me this snake has to much pattern ( picture ) to be the speckled king . None of the holbrooki that I've seen there or in the flint hills has that much pattern. BUT they do farther southwest and even is speculative of inter-grading with splendida. Like I said > another close up pic would tell me.
