For me it's an average of 10 days. I think a female will actively explore a nest box, whether she's gravid or not. They have a tendency to "bed down" in the box for a day prior to egglaying. Are you sure she's gravid? Most females won't eat after their pre-egglaying shed.



Spagnum moss is the standard used in egglaying boxes - not perlite or vermiculite - which are used for egg incubation.
