Its not a hazard that I know of, it is just harder for the snake to get it down. Head first is easier because the arms and legs fold back and the snake can get it down easier. Try making sure the head is facing the snake. I have noticed that if one of my snakes missed a meal (due to shed or anything else) they tend to be more hungry that normal and really don't care what end is first, as long as they get food!!

If you are really concerned, try scenting the head with tuna water, or braining it.

I myself would not be too worried. But, my normal disclaimer is, "I am not an Expert".
