Furthermore, once the mold spores have germinated on the bad egg, the actively growing mold can spred to the good eggs as well (actively growing fungi and fungal spores can be drastically different in their ability to infect). Analogously, you might be able to resist getting a cold, but if you are kept in 20' x 20' unventilated room with 50 other people that have the flu, what do you think is going to happen?
