I have a female (Big Red) that was with the same Summit Hypo male as my pastel CBLT. They were with him about the same period, though the CBLT had him first. I would switch him off every time I fed him.
This will be her 5th shed since introduction of the male; frankly I've never heard of this happening, so I am very concerned.
Is she gravid? She looks like it (swelled & darkened). She acts like it (coils often, loss of appetite). But, perhaps she will only give me slugs. This pregnancy or is really taking a toll on her - I fear it will end up being too much for her. The only snakes I know that shed so much are ill or seriously stressed.
Prior to breeding she shed every few months and ate every week or two without fail. But since the breeding began, Nov 25, 2005, she shed in Dec 05, Jan 23, March 12, and the last time April 07...and she is in the blue again. Since breeding began, she has eaten 3 times, the last being April 08. She never had a huge ovulation swell, it's been a gradual increase in size. She is alien to anything I've experienced before. I am at a loss with her. Going by her second shed in Jan, she would be due in May. I swear I will be gray or bald before she is through with me.
Has anyone one had a female shed that many times during gestation? If so, did she go on to have a successful litter?
