Very sorry for the loss of your red-foot. Toxicities and flukes of nature are possibilities, but perhaps unlikely. I would recommend a post-mortem if you're really curious about the cause of death (or perhaps want to know for the sake of the rest of your torts). The recent respiratory infection may or may not have been the problem. Often the upper resp. signs are clearing, but the initial problem also included pneumonia, which is much harder to treat, and detect. Less commonly, X-rays may even be clear, while the lungs are in distress. What I"m really saying is that it can be difficult to fully assess the entirety of a respiratory illness, and unless other factors are monitored, (bloodwork ect) then outwardly improvement may be misleading.
