of course if he is not eating much he wont deficate. but if he eating, and hasnt deficated in awhile then he could be compacted or just constipated. soaking does help, also id suggest feeding him romaine lettuce, carrots, squash, and any other veggie or fruit that hold a high amount of water. a pinkie mouse works with my dragons too. these usually cause runny stools and diarea in dragons, so it helps with compaction and constipation. try laying off insects and pellets for a bit and feed him the veggies and fruits. but do be sure he gets calcium and protein in whatever way you use. if this does not work get him to a vet
