In my experience, how much and how often you handle a snake will make a big difference. In general, some species are just hyper, such as cave dwelling rats. Beautiful but they were always hyper and defensive when I worked with them. I had 1 cal king that was more of a pet. She always acknowledged your presence when you approached her cage. Always followed your movements and did not bite. She was handled often and calmed down but when she was young, she was a typical cal king. Same of my corns. The ones that are handled more often are calmer. If you want to be able to handle a corn or king, not get musked, not get bit, not end up with feces on your hand or shirt, then work with it and handle it often. As a hatching, they are going to make a mess but they will calm down.
