except mine uses rubbermaid dishpans for the tubs and is 2 wide x 6 high with a colony of 1 male to 3 or 4 females. Instead of the auto drip watering system I used those small animal water bottles you can get at Walmart for under $2 each and just enlarged one of the holes in the mesh for the tubes to go thru. The bottles lean at an angle on the wood supports and yeah, they need to be filled daily but for a small setup it's not too bad.



If you build something like this, get twice as many tubs as you'll need so you can just set up the fresh ones and move the mice over.



I've never had much luck with those white lab mice that you usually find as feeder mice. Too picky about temps and such things. My colonies are multi colored mutts and they're hardy and breed all year round for me no matter what the temps are.
