Hi,
Found the cat eating this snake. Stopped it before it ate the whole thing. I have a picture but don't know how to attach it. I can email it to someone if you like?? (It's kind of gross and bloody though). I have looked at every web site for TX snakes and can't find one that resembles the snake.
Anyway, this snake has a smooth gray head that looks like there are no scales on it, slightly triangular (not even with the body) . It has starting at where the smooth gray head ends,, white splotches or circles surrounded by gray or brown bands, then the splothces or circles are not as defined as the you go down the body. It seems to have gray with a bit of brown, black and white all down the back in a pattern of which gets less clear as you go toward the tail. I have no idea what the tail looked like since the cat ate that.
It was only about maybe 9" or so (guessing since the cat ate half of it), not huge, perhaps a baby?
Area found, Granite Shoals TX - Burnet County. Lake is across the street.
