Thanks to everyone for your compliments, I did not produce these animals they were part of a large collection of animals, both hybrids and some incredible pure animals that I just purchased. The person from which they were obtained from has expressed his wish to remain nameless so I will honor that (sorry to everyone) Some of the projects that you have seen I will be producing this year and most will in 2007. The above animal is a perfect example of one reason hybrids are so hated, is it beautiful?....I think so, but it's almost impossible to tell from a pure amelanistic Honduran....If I were to sell this animal, the purchaser could, either through ignorance or hopes of a higher selling price, misrepresent this snake and no one would be the wiser. That's why the decision has already been made to raise this animal and breed it to other completely unrelated projects...producing animals with a distinct hybrid appearance...as keepers of hybrids we must work to better the image....sure I could sell this animal....I could honestly represent it, but two, three people down the line who knows? Therefore I try to only sell animals that exhibit obvious hybrid traits...that way mistakes can't be made and pure genepools won't be contaminated. The responsibilty lies with us. I have sold animals in the past that were difficult to identify, they were honestly represented and I made every effort to educate the person buying it what could happen if they don't keep good records but who knows what they really did? I have come to think that maybe animals that are hard to identify should not be released on the market or euthanized. I think we should all make efforts to sell only those animals from known parantage, with distinct appearances, and to people who plan to do the right thing in the future with the animals.
