It seems there are many questionable yellow bellies on the classified market. I recently purchased a "yellow belly like" python very cheap. I am sure it is not as if the imported thought it were, he would have proven it out.
The only way I would ever purchase a yb is if and only if it were proven, ie had ivory siblings. Some people seem to sell any python with a spot or yellow blotch on the belly as a yellow belly.
Too many times have I seen seemingy reputible people selling bogus possible hets or possible "new" morphs. After neary purchasing a "female" pastel at a show, I insisted on sexing the python myself.... much to my surprise.... It probed about 10 scales. Of course the breeder "made a mistake".
This is not the first time I have purchased a "female" snake that had a hemi.
Looks like the reptile enthusiast must be extremely careful while purchasing any snake. Too many people looking to take advantage these days.
