They are most often out in plain view during daylight and nighttime hours. I would bet that they'd be better as feeders if you were concerned about them hiding. I haven't tried to feed mine out yet because my colony is too small to experiment with. Also, they need to drink so they won't stay hidden for long if your enclosure isn't very humid.
