I understand you are trying to do well with the rescue, but it is my opinion that you are over stocked.
I do not find it benificial at all to house two snakes together asside from breeding. The whole thing brings up far too many issues and problems. I would suggest a few things ...
First, cut back on the animals you are taking in until you get things under control.
Second, do not house multiple snakes together, especially if these are rescues as they should be quarentined (sp?).
Third, I am assuming your rescue is to take in unwanted snakes to be re-homed. If this is the case then I would suggest using space saving cages such as racks for smaller snakes and more compact cages (ie. stacks of 4'x2'x18" cages for example) for the larger snakes. Then maybe a few 6'x2' cages for any monsters you may get.
Again, I highly suggest housing them one per cage especially in the situation of rescues. You are just asking for loads of problems housing multiple rescues together.
Good luck, and if you are in the Philly Pa area and are having trouble making room for snakes send me an email and I will see if I can help out. ----- - Jason F.
