There's a photo of a patternless copperhead in Bechtel's book "REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN VARIANTS Colors, Patterns, & Scales" from Krieger Pub, 1995. That this photo was taken "in situ" makes it noteworthy, to my mind. Was the animal photographed & left alone, or captured?
