The ink is soy-based and harmless, but will often bleed onto animals if they come into contact with it while damp, especially if you do not age the paper for a couple of weeks prior to use.
If you live close to a newspaper production facility, they will often give you the end rolls for free, or charge a small fee for such. End rolls have several hundred yards of unprinted paper left on them, as they must stop running rolls befoer the paper runs out,leaving quite a bit. I have been usingthese for years and all they ask is that I returnb the spools whenever I finish using all the paper. asy enough, as I simply returmn the old spools whenever I returmn for more end rolls...
