You should got to a vet to have the procedure done under proper anesthesia, and with antibiotic follow-up. Your vet will do both at the same time. Then you'll want to look closely at your husbandry to find out why this is happening. Excessibely dry conditions would be the first thing to look at, but some substrates can lead to problems like this too.
