I'm currently working on building a new enclosure for my timor monitor and have a question about the substrate. Currently I use straight top soil, but being as I want a nice thick layer in the new enclosure, and the bottom is 2'x4', doing only soil would be VERY heavy.
I was thinking of mixing some peat moss in with the soil and was wondering what other people might think of this. Also what is the highest ratio of Volume peat to volume soil you might recommend? Also are there any other lightweight additives to the substrate people use? Thanks!
