I doubt it is a problem. If the scales are damaged and/or skin is showing, a mild antibiotic ointment will be fine as long as you don't get it in his nostrils. Betadine works too.

I was given one snake with a very swollen rostral area with the scale rubbed off and raw. A few applications of ointment and a few sheds later he looked just fine.

Also, you might try another bedding. Bark is rather abrasive, and in captivity in a cage the size you describe, the snake will rub at some times. Try Sani-Chip or aspen or clean, dry pine shavings or bed-a-beast or ...
