No real absolute way to tell,but I noticed this in Blackthroats.My WC had much more protruding scales(Much thicker around the neck)and WC have the wild eye!If you've kept monitors for a while you'll notice even scared monitors have big eyes but wc have wild eyes.They look terrified.Only people who have had both know the look.It's amazing and very noticeable.Fear in the wild kingdom is noticeable even by me.It's FEAR!wild caught adults really show it,not babies.I know fear and terror and my wc's are pure terror.I felt bad for them and try extra hard to gain their trust.Nearly impossible with WC adults.Just my opinion.
