The scenario and behavior you have described do not sound like URI, but rather agitation from being handled. It is always a good idea to quarantine and have a veterinarian examine a new acquisition, prior to placing such into an existing collection.
Anyhow, I do not believe your new charge has URI and I feel confident the signs you have described are behavioral and not signs of URI.
For now, I would recommend you research all the information you can, regarding the captive maintenance of your new python and a look into the natural history of such will go far in helping you maintain the snake correctly as well..
