The south Brazilians seem to have a “freak gene”, they can produce all kinds of wild stuff. Mine frequently produce this type of pattern. I have also gotten this from Bolivians. It appears to be genetically reproducible. I bred a female Bolivian with this trait to a normal but thin saddled male. Slightly less than half of the offspring showed the trait (see pics below), so it may behave in a “codominant” fashion. I should have a better idea in about a month. I bred two animals with this trait and the female is gravid. Unfortunately, she took longer than I would have liked to ovulate, so I put another male in that doesn’t have the trait. So I still won’t know for sure, but at least we’ll have a better idea if the trait is indeed passed on. I’m really excited about the litter, because the parents have awesome coloration, and also maxed out at a small size (the female is six feet, the male five).
