MHD Help!!!!!

My friend got a MHD about 7 months ago. He's on vacaton for two weeks and i'm taking care of his MHD. I know alot about herps and think he's not taking care of it. He's in a 20gal long tank and held way to much also they only give him 12 crix a week. I've told him that he's not taking care of it very well and he won't listen to me. If it dies it's his money lost but i'd still like to give it a chance. please help!! what should i do??? Katie
