This is my first time breeding boas, and I wasn't expecting momma to drop until 7/12 or thereabouts. Anyway, Friday night she made a little nest in the corner of her cage and didn't move from that spot. I double checked her POS date and then figured it was nothing since she wasn't due for a couple more weeks. Saturday night she broke her recent pattern of coming to the front of the cage every night and stretching out all night - just stayed in her little nest. Last night, I checked her again and she was still in her nest. So this morning I check on her only to find 15 full-term, healthy, active little ones and one premie still born. The parents are both Costa Rican x Mexican and some of their siblings were tigers, but there were no tigers in this litter. Dad has a small tail stripe and there were a few nice tail stripes, some funky pattern aberrancies and one little hypo-ish baby. The premie was also a very light, hypo-ish. I was able to clean them up a little and snap a couple pics before heading off to work. I am just so happy and proud of momma for delivering such a healthy first-time litter!! More pics to come later this week..... | ||
