Most Likely a Garter

I agree with bigwizzkid - it doesnt have the "look" of a brown snake. The head is too large, there shouldn't be light stripes on the side nor an alternating row of checker-like spots, there are no parallel rows of spots divided by a dorsal light stripe, and the color is wrong. A profile of the head would nail it down - D. storiea have no loreal scale.

My opinion is E. Garter (likely) or ShortHead Garter (maybe).
