Not like we do, for sure. They react on a much more basic level. Do they want "freedom"?. It's not in their vocabulary. Getting out of their cage to crawl off into a corner w/no water and die is not what they look for (it happens). Looking for food or water or a mate or to thermo-regulate is what they want. The occasional adult taken from the wild to bring fresh bloodlines is far fewer than lost to predation. Then again, I keep nothing local, so it doesn't matter to me.
