There is nothing odd about your question. There are many resources you can consult for the information you seek. Start with one of the better field guides such as Audobon or Peterson. This will give you lots of info on US snakes. You should statr there before you go international.
Just to get you started, here are some US Snakes you should look up:
Drymarchon
Pituophis,
Elaphe,
Masticophis
