This is the first year I've gotten eggs from a pair of piebald hets I bought from Pete Kahl in 2001. I was very excited about hatching out a pied or two, I've definitely felt behind the curve with these snakes. So I was disappointed when they hatched out with no pieds -- but that's how hets can work, if they were all pied I certainly wouldn't have complained, would I? And they certainly are nice looking. It took a few days for me to realize I wasn't looking at just possible het pieds. I'd gotten an '04 blonde pastel jungle male from Bob Futo in February that I'd put in with different females between his feedings. I sent a couple of pics to different people, every one agreed, these are blonde pastels. That is, blonde pastel 50% PH pieds, 2.2 of them. I can't say I was looking for a new "project", but it's been pretty nicely handed to me, hasn't it? And it adds to the suspense, 5 more clutches in the incubator, 4 of them had the blonde pastel pass through. He was only in a night or two, but that was enough time for the first clutch, will I see more of his offspring? I hope so!
