I've been using wood cages forever and the only animal I've ever lost from infection was one that I kept in a glass aquarium (young blood python). I think that the benefits of wood greatly outweigh the possibly negative aspects. I'd guess that bacteria or mold build up problems generally come from a lack of maintenance or too small of a cage. My balls live in 16 cubic feet of comfort so there isn't the build up that comes from a tiny space. If I was housing them at 90% humidity all the time, then I'd just lacquer or paint the interior. ----- Ball Pythons 1.1 (Morty & Mary)
