Had that problem last year. I use a rubbermaid tub with aquarium heater. I kept the container closed with only a small hole for the heater cord. The humitidy in that container is extreme. This year I kept the lid cracked so the container wouldn't be so humid. So far I have not had the kinking problem this year!
